Sinister?

This painting came out of an exercise to compose a picture using one shape and then expanding on it if necessary. Everyone who has seen it so far feels it is a little sinister with deep emotion hence the title!

This is the 3rd finished painting in this series. With all of these paintings I've tried to keep the basic colors down to 3 or 4, in this case I used quin gold, iridescent russet and violet with a little touch of french ultramarine blue. I love color and it's really exciting to see how many different tones and hues you can make from such a small base. This painting I hope shows a bruegelesque feeling of the closeness of buildings and the claustrophobic nearness of people's lives.
