Debra 09

Image
This small abstract was completed this week. It was taken from a drawing I made several years ago of a low sitting model and I have abstracted her image so that the parts are no longer in their original places or planes.

Mauritius arches

This was an exercise in taking a simple view and using the cubist method to show simply the various planes of the painting.

Cow Skull

Image
This simple abstract was made from some sketches taken of a cow's skull from different views. I chose to make it as simple as possible but still keeping some interest.

Devon hillside I

Image
This is the first of two paintings made last week depicting a high horizon line. This painting was done in watercolour and is therefore more transluscent than the gouache version following. It also has more details in it.

Devon hillside II

Image
Last weeks exercise was to produce a painting with a high horizon line. This is the second painting I did, as you will notice from the first there is a lot less detail in this version.

Maritius curves

Image
This was an exercise in taking a photo/drawing and changing it into its simplest forms and showing the different planes of the painting. I used a photo taken at a hotel some years ago in Mauritius

What do they see?

Image
This is a 15x19 [unmatted] gouache on paper which I finished earlier this week. It was based on a couple I know who were gazing out into no where and I hope I have conveyed this.

Falling

Image
During the last few months I have been actively studying abstract painting and these are a few of my current works. This one called 'Falling' I hope will give you the feeling of weightlessness and decent from above. The size of the unframed piece is 11x11"
