This is one of my poured abstracts using the mixed media of watercolour and acrylics. It was a long time before the subject matter became obvious to me. Its based on people strap hanging on the London Underground

Congested inner city

This is the 3rd finished painting in this series. With all of these paintings I've tried to keep the basic colors down to 3 or 4, in this case I used quin gold, iridescent russet and violet with a little touch of french ultramarine blue. I love color and it's really exciting to see how many different tones and hues you can make from such a small base. This painting I hope shows a bruegelesque feeling of the closeness of buildings and the claustrophobic nearness of people's lives.
