NYBlu [study]

Image
Hey critique ladies this is the original small painting of NYBlu, as per last monday
Just learnt that I have won a St Cuthbert prize in The Artist Magazine annual show at Patchings in the UK for congested inner city.

Snowy Roofs

This is the second in the series and the one that my customer chose to be the companion piece. This painting again uses very few basic colors and shows some wonderful turmoil through the painting which gives it a feeling of windy swirls blowing paper and leaves around.

Pink hillside

Image
This was the first painting in the series I have embarked upon. I had been commissioned to paint a companion piece to another I had painted several years ago. Although this one and the series are different the overall abstract feel and movement within the painting compliment the earlier painting. At present the subject matter of the series is buildings of various types. This one gives a feeling of sunshine and warmth on a hillside.

Congested inner city

This is the 3rd finished painting in this series. With all of these paintings I've tried to keep the basic colors down to 3 or 4, in this case I used quin gold, iridescent russet and violet with a little touch of french ultramarine blue. I love color and it's really exciting to see how many different tones and hues you can make from such a small base. This painting I hope shows a bruegelesque feeling of the closeness of buildings and the claustrophobic nearness of people's lives.

She's leaving home

In this painting I am hoping to evoke the feeling of that she's leaving but he doesn't seem to care too much.
